Public library cards used in school library

Dear folks,

Today our school librarian mentioned that there is a move by some schools for students to use their public library cards in school libraries/labs. Years ago, when I was at St. Bernard's, I had my students do this, as we could not afford anything. Then, following that I was told by a World Book rep. that this is not ethical. Of course, here is bias...:)

Does anyone know a public librarian in Mtg. County who he/she could check with on the library's policy?
