Dollar's General Youth Literacy Grant
provide funding to schools and local nonprofit organizations to help with the implementation or expansion of literacy programs for new readers, below-grade-level readers and readers with learning disabilities. K–12 schools and nonprofit organizations located within 20 miles of their nearest Dollar General store are eligible for a maximum award of $3,000.

This article appeared on Saturday, September 8, 2007 in the Metro section. Unfortunately, it is NOT accessible online, nor does it have a byline. What gives?

Summarizing, St. Peter Interparish School on Capitol Hill, the article notes the celebration of the School's summer reading program with students playing Quidditch without using magic. Afterall, it is a catholic school [sic]. Some great pictures are included, but alas! no mention of the librarian who is most likely responsible for the idea and program....

Obituary: Madeleine L'Engle

"Madeleine L’Engle, who in writing more than 60 books, including childhood fables, religious meditations and science fiction, weaved emotional tapestries transcending genre and generation, died Thursday in Connecticut. She was 88." See full article, New York Times.
