"The Librarian keeps the Troop’s books, pamphlets, magazines, and audio/visuals available for checkout by Scouts and leaders. He keeps a file of all Troop literature and a record of all materials loaned out. He recommends new acquisitions and reports on needed replacements. He attends the PLC meetings. He keeps his notebook updated, and passes it on to the next Scout to hold his position. He works with the Committee Chairperson in carrying out his duties." from www.troop589.org/scouting/scoutleadership.html

Question for the day: If the Boys Scouts have this badge, why not the Girl Scouts?

NCEA Social Justice Education Grant

There is not much available from NCEA for grants, so I encourage you to take a look at this one, esp. if you can collaborate with the Religion teacher. If you receive it, it might at least cover materials!

from the NCEA website:

Thanks to an original donation from McMillan/McGraw-Hill, grants of up to $500 are available for teachers with at least 5 years experience in a Catholic elementary or secondary school and membership in NCEA who are interested in promoting social justice education. Proposals must address one of the themes of Catholic social teaching.

For more information and the next application period, email nceaelem@ncea.org

ALA grant: Picturing America

We received this grant, along with quite a list of other schools, for the upcoming year! It is a truly fun grant, whereby you are sent beautiful reproductions of art work to incorporate and display with your curriculum. The art teacher and I collaboratively applied for this, and are looking forward to using the materials.

For the schools with limited budgets in art, this is a fab opportunity!
